Burning Love Wedding Cake

This was a special wedding cake made for my nephew and his bride-to be, Jennie. She secretly ordered this cake for her fiancee since he was recently certified as a fire fighter shortly before his wedding.

The tier cake measured 6", 10" and 12". Frosted with butter cream and given a glistening appearance with edible white glitter.

The base flames were made with fondant that was marbleized in red, orange and yellow.

The fire truck cake was approximately 18" in length and carved from sheet cakes.

I used red fondant to cover the fire truck.

The bride and groom and pieces on the fire truck were a mixtures of gum paste and fondant. Everything was hand painted with food coloring.

The lacework on the brides dress was a replica of the original dress she wore on her wedding day. It was covered with white pearl dust and then steamed to give it a satin look.

The groom's name was written on the back of his jacket and well as his department on the ladder. The ladder was taken off a toy fire truck.

The fire truck cake was duplicated from a picture of the main fire engine at his station.

He was thrilled when he entered the reception and saw his cake. He was the envy of his fire department.
