Quilted White Two Tiered Wedding Cake With Bow

I am fairly new to making cakes so I wanted to try making a wedding cake. I wanted it to look classy but not overdone. So I came up with this design. It's 6 and 8in double rounds, red velvet and chocolate layers with white buttercream covered in marshmallow fondant.

For the quilted pattern I used an angle ruler and a Wilton fondant cutter to make the straight lines. They are 1 inch apart and I just did the same thing the opposite way to make them crisscross. Then I attached silver dragees with icing using a small round tip.

The border between the cakes is rolled out fondant that is pleated to make it look like fabric. And the flowers are circle cut outs that I shaped to make a rose.

The bow on top is made out of fondant. I cut out about 14 strips of fondant then attached the edges with water to make an oval shape. Stood them on their sides and let them dry overnight and put them together with icing. I also made curls to put in the bow. Those are thin strips of fondant that I wrapped around a dowel rod and let dry.

I am happy how this cake turned out. I would have loved to make a bigger one but it was just for practice. Hope you like it!
