Subaru Groom's Cake

For this Subaru groom's cake, I started by making 3 full yellow sheet cakes and cutting them up into half sheets. While stacking the cakes, I made sure not to waste much cake. After all of the layers were stacked, I cut the car out using a picture of the groom's car as a guide.

When all of the carving was finished, I then began to color my fondant. I then rolled out first, the pieces for the windows. I then rolled out the blue piece for the body of the car and cut out the places where the black was placed for the windows.

After that I used small cupcakes for the tires and carved them into the proper shape and covered them with fondant as well.

After dying a small amount of fondant a grayish color I rolled it out and cut it into a rim shape. I applied the "Rims" of fondant onto the tires with some vodka and then painted them with a mixture of silver shimmer dust and vodka.

After that I sculpted out the side mirrors and windshield wipers. I then scored into the car to make door, hood and trunk markings. The final touch of this cake was the details from the license plate carved out of white fondant and written on with navy blue royal icing to the SUBARU logo on the rear of the car.

This was a fun cake to accomplish and it being my first attempt at a car, I think I did pretty well.
