Tropical Nautilus Shell Wedding Cake

This simple, yet elegant tropical shell wedding cake was created for a beach wedding. The cake is a refreshing lemonade flavor with a light raspberry filling, perfect for an outdoor summer affair! "Made from scratch" fondant covers this confectionary dream, giving it a very classic look.

The lattice borders were created using vanilla butter-cream icing; as was the bottom shell border, which hinted at the rolling waves of the ocean.

The nautilus shell topper is a beautifully hand carved, white chocolate show stopper; paired with handmade sugarpaste orchids, individually colored to coordinate with the wedding party.

The cascade of orchids flows forth from the shell topper and sprinkles down on to the bottom tier as if the gentle ocean breeze placed them there.

Silk fern fronds are tucked in among the flowers for a little added color, and the entire cake received a dusting of pearl dust to enhance the dreamy feel of this wedding.
